The update of the strategy for the Finnish Forest Products Engineers’ Association for the years 2025–2030 is well underway. As an important part of the strategy process, we gathered our members’ views on the current state of the association and sought insights for the development of its activities. These insights were collected through a comprehensive membership survey conducted between 15–30 January 2025.
The membership survey was highly popular, with a total of 431 members responding. We also sought opinions separately from students who are not yet members of the association, receiving approximately 30 responses from them as well. A big thank you to all respondents for your time and thoughts! The responses provided us with a wealth of valuable information about our members' wishes and perspectives, forming a strong foundation for the development of the association’s activities. These insights will be widely utilised in our strategy work.
The survey received active responses from across Finland, from Uusimaa to Lapland. Furthermore, we received input from a diverse range of members of different ages and backgrounds, including students, working professionals, and retirees.
Based on the responses, members consider PI’s services to be important, and the association’s role in keeping up with industry developments and technologies, enhancing professional competence, and maintaining and expanding networks is seen as highly significant. In particular, events such as the Spring and Autumn Summits, the Pulp & Beyond event, webinars, student events, the Puunvuoro magazine, the membership directory, and the ForestBioFacts learning platform are regarded as key elements of our operations.
The survey provided us with valuable insights for the development of our activities and services. According to the responses, PI should primarily prepare for industry-related changes such as structural shifts in the forest industry, digitalisation, regulatory developments, and increasing sustainability requirements. These forces for change are also reflected in the suggestions for improving our operations, with members hoping for greater diversity in event formats and networking opportunities, increased digital content, as well as more training and up-to-date expert content.
All responses and feedback will be reviewed and taken into account as the strategy work progresses. The updated strategy for 2025–2030 will be presented at the Spring Summit on 24 April 2025.
A special thank you also to everyone who participated in the Delicard gift card draw. The prizes were drawn on 10 February 2025, and the winners have been contacted personally.
